Program/ Golf, Who Knew?

A  strategic partnership with the Detroit Housing Commission and the Chandler Park Golf Course we have created a 15-week curriculum for education and career development in the business and sport of golf.

This program introduces golf to young golfers by helping them to overcome the barrier for their engagement; lack of awareness, expense of equipment, limited access to golf courses, and transportation.

We are proud to be a Beneficiary of the PGA Tours 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic Birdies for Charity Program ( website) as we continue to engage our multicultural talent base for both the challenges of golf and challenges of life through adaptive learning skills, enabling our participants to learn, play and better understand golf’s tradition.

HBCU Connection

HBCUs are a source of accomplishment and great pride for the African-American community as well as the entire nation. The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, defines an HBCU as: “…any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation.”

HBCUs offer all students, regardless of race, an opportunity to develop their skills and talents. These institutions train young people who go on to serve domestically and internationally in the professions as entrepreneurs and in the public and private sectors. The following HBCU's have a golf program at their campus:
  • Alabama A&M University
  • Alabama State University
